friend, can you imagine being locked up in solitary confinement for four months straight? I can't either, but Kelly has survived it. That's why the National Immigrant Justice Center has launched a week of action this week along with Amnesty International and TransLatin@ Coalition to #FreeKelly. Kelly is a 23-year-old transgender asylum seeker who has been locked up in immigration jail for more than two years, and has suffered medical neglect and arbitrary solitary confinement. Kelly has spoken to NBC News about her horrible experience in solitary confinement, and as her attorney, I've filed legal actions on her behalf, but Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) refuses to release her. |
