Tell Congress to vote NO on H.R. 32, which we are calling the Defund our Communities Act. The bill would give the Trump administration power to strip billions in federal funding from hundreds of state and local governments.   

This bill would enable the Trump administration to:  

• Cut funding for essential community services including health, education, and emergency response;  
• Punish local governments for passing laws to legally protect their residents; 
• Harm all community members, regardless of immigration status; and,  
• Threaten local jobs and economies.  

Welcoming laws that protect local communities from federal overreach make us safer and provide peace of mind to our diverse immigrant communities that if they need help in an emergency or are a victim of a crime, they can call for help without fear of deportation. Law enforcement agencies throughout the country have supported laws that protect our community members for years, and know that involving local police in federal immigration enforcement efforts not only strains their agencies’ own capacity to address public safety concerns, but also degrades community trust.
